The Amaryllis is also known as Belladonna Lily, Jersey Lily, Amarillo or, in South Africa, March Lily due to its propensity to flower around March. The leaves are produced in the autumn or early spring in warm climates (depending on the onset of rain) and eventually die down by late spring. Afterward the bulb remains dormant until late Summer.
Aphelandra
Commonly called the "Zebra Plant", it is a plant species in the family Acanthaceae which is native to the Atlantic Forest vegetation of Brazil. This plant likes a lot of light, but not directly. The plant flourishes when the temperature is in the range of 18-21°C (65-70°F); and will suffer if the temperature drops below 15°C (60°F) for prolonged periods.
Azalea
Flowering shrubs that bloom during spring in the Northern hemisphere and during Winter in the Southern hemisphere. They are shade tolerant and prefer to live near or under trees. They do best in well-drained acidic soil and fertilizer needs are low. Azaleas are native to several continents including Asia, Europe & N. America.
Chrysanthemum
The name "Chrysanthemum" is derived from the Greek words, chrysos (gold) and anthemon (flower). Chrysanthemum species are herbaceous perennial plants growing between 50–150 cm tall, with deeply lobed leaves and large flower heads that are generally white, yellow or pink in the wild.
Cyclamen
Cyclamen species are native to Europe and the Mediterranean Basin East of Iran. Petal color may be white, pink, or purple. Hardiness may range from frost-hady to frost-tender. In most species, leaves come up in autumn, grow through the Winter, and die in the Spring, then the plant goes dormant in the Summer.
Daffodil
Daffodil is a spring-flowering, bulbous perennial in the Amaryllis family. They are native to meadows and woods in Europe, North Africa and West Asia. The leafless stems, appear from early to late Spring depending on the species, and bear from 1 to 20 blooms. They are popular as ornamental plants for gardens, parks, and as cut flowers.
Foliage
Foliage is a mass noun that refers to leaves as a feature of plants. Most foliage plants are grown indoors, but the majority of them can be grown outside in semi-shade most of the year round, especially in temperate climates
Hedera Ivy
Ivy is native to Western, Central and Southern Europe, Macronesia, Northwestern Africa and across Central-Southern Asia. One level ground they remain creeping low at 5-20 cm high, but may climb up to 30 meters high with suitable surfaces such as trees, rocks, and man made structures.
Hydrangea
Hydrangeas are native to Southern Asia, Eastern Asia, and the Americas. Flowers are produces from early Spring to late Autumn. Flowers are white but may be pink, blue, or purple depending on the soil pH. They are popular ornamental plants, grown for their large flowerheads.
Kalanchoe
Kalanchoes are cultivated as ornamental houseplants and succulent garden plants. They are known to the Chinese as "thousands and millions of red and purple", and are commonly purchased during the Chinese New Year for decorative purposes. Kalanchoe species have been used to treat ailments such as infections, rheumatism and inflammation.
Calla Lily
Calla Lily, also known as "Varkoor" (an Afrikaans name meaning "pig's ear"), is native to Southern Africa. Its preferred habitat is in streams and ponds or on the banks. It grows between 2-3 ft tall, with large clumps of broad arrow shaped dark green leaves. It has become an important symbol of Irish nationalism commemorating the fallen of the Easter Rebellion.
Hybrid Lily
Hybrid lilies are classified into Oriental hybrids and Asiatic hybrids. Orientals tend to be larger (6-8") with a high fragrance and either red, purple, pink, or white flowers. Asiatics have smaller blooms (3-4") with no fragrance and are much brighter in colors such as gold, yellow, orange, pink, and white
Stargazer Lily
An Oriental hybrid lily known for its fragrant perfume. Blooms mid to late Summer, and grow best in full sunlight. They have a fast growth rate and should be planted in full sun with well drained loamy or sandy soil. Stargazers can grow to a height of 36 inches with 4-5 flowers per stem.
Marble Queen
Known as "Spade Leaf Sword" it is primarily found in the wetlands of Mexico and North America. They can be found in marshes, swamps, and ponds. They are easily cultivated in neutral to soft water with tropical to sub-tropical temperatures and bloom in the late summer to early Fall.
PaperWhite
Also known as Narcissus papyraceus, meaning paper-like, it is one of a few species known as "paperwhite". It is a perennial native to the Mediterranean. The white flowers are formed in bunches and are strongly fragrant. Mature height is usually 1-1.5 ft. Bulbs begin to grow as soon as they are planted with flowers appearing in 3-4 weeks. Cool temperatures and direct sunlight help to prolong the blooming.
Pelee Mum
Pelee is a garden mum ranging in colors from yellow to red to pink that bloom around mid Summer to Fall. They grow best in direct sunlight with moist soil that is slightly acidic. They grow to heights between 12-18 inches and prefer temperatures between 65-70 degrees Fahrenheit.
Pothos
Pothos are native to Northern Australia through Malaysia and into China, Japan, and India. This plant produces trailing stems when climbing up trees and take root when they reach the ground. It is a popular house plant and often used in decorative displays in shopping centers, offices, or other public locations.
Tulips
The Tulip is a perennial, bulbous plant with showy flowers in the genus Tulipa. Native to Southern Europe, Israel, Palestine, North Africa and Iran. They bloom in the Spring and grow as short as 4 inches or high as 28 inches. They thrive in climates with long, cool Springs and dry Summers.
